Have you been struggling to keep your weight down, or been fighting constant fatigue and a general feeling of un-healthiness? Often at times, diet can be to blame for when we’re feeling less than our best. What we put into our bodies is exactly what makes up our body, so it makes sense that the closer to nature you can eat, the more lively and energized you’ll feel. Of course, making sure you get to the doctor and dentist for check-ups regularly can help too!

For many people, it’s difficult to think about giving up meat in their diet. Many people have been raised with meat as a standard part of most meals, so it can be a hard habit to kick. But vegetarians have been shown to live longer and healthier lives than meat eaters! And this isn’t the only reason to make the switch. Here are a few more:

It’s better for the environment
If you love the Earth and want it to stick around for your children and future generations to come, going vegetarian is one step you can take to help protect our environment. Raising cattle and other animals for the meat industry takes a huge toll on our precious and limited resources. Acres of rainforest are being destroyed everyday to make room for cattle grazing land, so hungry meat-eaters can have their hamburgers. Eating vegetarian has a low cost on the environment and is much better for the planet in the long run.

Avoid hormones and chemicals
It’s hard these days to avoid all sources of chemicals in our food entirely. But when you eat commercial meat, you’re potentially ingesting all sorts of artificial growth hormones given to the animals to make them grow bigger and faster than is natural. The effects of these hormones on people isn’t yet known. And beyond that, many animals are given antibiotics to prevent infection from the unnatural conditions they must live in for their short, unhappy lives. When you eat the meat of these animals, you’re taking in these antibiotics as well.

You’ll be healthier
So many studies have shown that vegetarians have a lower risk of cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes and a whole host of other problems that we want to avoid. Simply put, eating a plant-based diet is better for your body all-around. Many meat eaters argue that it’s difficult if not impossible to ingest enough protein in a vegetarian diet. But research has shown that you can consume plenty of protein through beans, seeds, nuts and even many vegetables.

Food For Thought?
The above points are just a few reasons why you should consider becoming a vegetarian, obviously there are some good arguments around why you should eat meat aswell. We feel a good balanced diet, edging towards more vegetarian based foods must be a healthier way forwards both for health and diet benefits.
